Day 19: “Don’t hit Illidan with a lightning whip!”
This is based on the second Infinite boss fight in Sonic Forces. My favorite strategy is just hitting him with the Lightning Wispon over and over again.
I’m sure you all recognize my Warcraft OC, Shadez, here. Basically, he heard “Illidan” grunting in pain a lot, and got really upset. My Sonic OC—her name’s Raven the Cat, by the way—is just trying to fight her nemesis.
That’s actually one of the reasons why I like Infinite. Yes, he’s obviously an antagonist to everyone, but he’s very clearly set up to be your OC’s bad guy. And, as someone who’s always coming up with stories for my OCs, I love that!
Day 20: Magical Metal Sonic
This is another Mario and Sonic at the Olympics one. This one’s based on the Triple Jump minigame. When Metal Sonic’s warming up, we all think it looks like he’s using his magical powers to open a portal or something. I don’t know what that animation is supposed to be. But it’s really funny!
Day 21: Murderous Sonic
Sonic: “DIE!”
This is based on the first Eggman boss fight in Sonic Forces. You’re running around, throwing boulders at his giant mech.
Only the first time I played Sonic Forces, I got a little too excited, and kept throwing boulders at him even when he was already defeated. So, I joke that Sonic got a little bloodthirsty there.
This is another one that came from a time when my younger siblings were playing together. My younger sister was sneezing a lot, and made Knuckles say this line, that we still quote a year later.
Day 17: The Roughest of Rough
This one happened last week, I believe. I was singing Infinite’s theme, and instead of saying “I’m the roughest of waves”, I almost said “I’m the roughest of rough”. I think I was playing Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, and I was working on unlocking him, and I started singing the song to get myself all fired up or something. And, yes, I did unlock him, just a few days ago. I was very excited! And now I’m never uninstalling Sonic Forces: Speed Battle again, so I won’t lose him.
Day 18: Super Sonic Fishing
In my second Sonic Frontiers playthrough, I got very into the fishing part of the game. I didn’t do it at all in my first playthrough, but, this time around, I loved it! In fact, I did it so much that I was able to buy enough keys to pretty much speedrun the game!
This is yet another Mario and Sonic at the Olympics doodle. For a while, my younger sister and I were playing this game together at least once a week. This is based on something I said when we were playing the boxing minigame.
Although the funny thing is that she was playing as Knuckles, and I feel like that’s more like something Knuckles would say. But it was Sonic telling Knuckles to fight him like a true warrior.
Day 15: Math
Infinite: “How old are you?”
Metal Sonic: “Math.”
This one is based on something that happened just yesterday, when Dad was teaching us about computer programming. I had a strange glitch where the program entered its own input. I knew I had to do a drawing, featuring Metal Sonic. And Infinite’s the one asking, because of course he is.
This one is from right after I beat Sonic Forces for the second time. Both times, I beat the game in less than a week, so, theoretically, I can play it once per week (surprisingly, I haven’t started doing that yet).
If you’ve seen enough of my Sonic art posts, you probably know that I enjoy doing the character impressions while I’m playing. And I’d say I’m pretty decent at doing most Sonic character voices. But one of the ones I just can’t figure out how to do is Infinite’s. And, ironically, he’s the one where I’ve been practicing his voice the longest (because he sounds exactly like Illidan Stormrage). Despite all this, my Infinite/Illidan impression is still hilariously bad. If you want to know how bad it is, I literally make them sound like Wario. I’m not too upset about it, because it fits the chaos that ensues whenever I’m messing around with my siblings. But I just think it’s funny that I’ve been trying for about seven years, and still can’t do it. I think the problem is that I can’t get my voice deep enough.
So, the joke here is that, if I play Sonic Forces once a week, maybe I’ll learn how to do his voice better. But I kinda doubt that would change anything. I am by no means a professional voice actor. I just do the voices to be funny.
Day 13: “We’re going to Burger King.”
Rouge: “We’re going to Burger King.”
I don’t know. This is something random I said once while I was playing Sonic Adventure 2. I was struggling with a Rouge level, and slowly losing my mind, probably.
It was nice to finally draw Shadow this month! He took a weirdly long time to show up, and I usually draw him fairly regularly, because he’s one of my favorites. My top three at the moment are probably Infinite, Sonic, and Shadow. My favorite constantly switches between Sonic and Infinite, so they’re usually tied. But I do go through phases where I’m slightly more into one than the other, and I’ve been very into Infinite lately. Shadow’s almost always right behind those two these days.
This one’s based on when I play Sonic and the Black Knight. It’s one of my favorite games of all time! The only problem is that all that Wii remote motion control action can hurt my arm. Because I’m an artist who draws every day, I make sure to play this game holding the Wii remote in my left hand to protect my drawing arm. Although, last time I played, I didn’t have much arm pain at all. But that’s because my brother and my older sister (who have both played quite a bit of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword) told me that I don’t have to be so aggressive with my swings. And that definitely helped. Sonic may be fighting hordes of monsters, but that doesn’t mean that I have to swing the Wii remote like I’m fighting for my life.
Day 11: “SILVER!!!”
This one’s another Mario and Sonic at the Olympics one. Can you tell that I love this game?
This drawing’s based on something funny that happened when my siblings and I were playing the rugby game together (which is my favorite minigame in the whole game, in case you were wondering). When the time came for my sisters to do the conversion part (forgive me if I worded this weird. I’m no sports expert), my younger sister, who was playing as Silver, somehow managed to throw the ball backwards. This was the only time anyone had ever done that, and it’s gone down in history as one of our many funny gaming moments that we’ll always remember.
This is another one based on Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (yay!). Whenever my younger sister plays as Metal Sonic, she always makes him talk like a LEGO Movie robot. This especially happens a lot in the Dream Racing game whenever anyone gets the lightning power-up.
Day 9: Want Tea?
Mephiles: “Hello there, Sonic. Want tea?”
I’m just gonna start out by saying that none of us have played Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) before (it’s not on any consoles we own or Steam). But my brother has played Shadow Generations (the other game that has Mephiles in it), and he thinks Mephiles is neat.
This is based on something he said once while he and my younger sister were playing together last year. This was happening in me and my older sister’s bedroom, and we were all laughing. And I had this drawing sitting in my head for a year, so it was nice to finally get it on paper.
Also, this is my first time ever drawing Mephiles. I think he turned out pretty great! Of course, because he’s having a tea party, I had to give him a cute little hat!
If you can’t tell from my 200+ (and counting)-page fancomic, I’m only a little obsessed with World of Warcraft: Legion. So, when Legion Remix was announced months ago, I was super excited! I obviously had to do a drawing for this special day!
This one came from right after I beat Sonic Forces for the second time in August. I decided to check Wowhead after beating the game to see if there was any WoW news. Because I had just finished playing Sonic Forces, I was still doing my character impressions as I looked through a Wowhead post showing a bunch of the mounts that will be in Legion Remix. There are going to be a lot. And I’ve been very into mount-collecting for the last few years. We’ll see how many I end up getting.
And, for anyone who might be curious, I already know who my first Legion Timerunner is going to be. He’s going to be a vulpera shadow priest named Mugen (Japanese for infinite). Making WoW characters based on characters I like is nothing new to me. I’ve literally been doing it since I started playing WoW back in 2017. That’s why so many of my characters have “vision” in their names. Because that was back when my big obsession was Avengers, and my favorite Avenger is Vision.
This is based on once when I was playing Sonic Forces, and I was yapping about Infinite (as I often do), and I was saying that “I got chills” about something, and my siblings thought I was about to say that “I got teary.”
We were all laughing afterwards, because the funny they weren’t wrong to assume that I might have gotten teary-eyed over Infinite. I’m a very emotional person, and I get very passionate about the characters that I love.
So, for the drawing, I decided to draw an emotional Sonic hugging a very confused Infinite.
Day 6: Embrace the Cringe
This one isn’t necessarily based on anything. This one’s kind of a self care drawing. As everyone does, I’ve been going through one of my phases where I feel a little insecure about the stuff I do and my interests.
These phases are a lot more common for me than they used to be. I’m sure part of it is just growing up. But my time on social media definitely didn’t help. In 2024, I was judged a lot for my interests and my ways of doing things in DMs. I know that you shouldn’t take things that jerks online say personally, but I do tend to internalize things (another thing I’m working on). Because I didn’t want to put up with this for the rest of my life, this is what led to me quitting social media (twice). When I returned to social media with my Sonic fanart briefly, I never got any mean comments, but I saw them coming a mile away. Mainly because of my unironic love for Sonic Forces (a hated game) and Infinite (a hated character from that hated game). I just didn’t want to take any chances.
Lately, I’ve been working on getting over this. It’s been some time. I’m really starting to see how stupid it all was now. Now, I’m focusing on drilling it into my brain that it’s all stupid. My love for Infinite and the way I write Illidan Stormrage in my silly fanfictions don’t actually matter. All that matters is that I’m having fun and not hurting anyone. I’ve actually been trying to draw Infinite a lot more lately. It kinda feels like a remedy for my social media brain-rot, drawing one of my most widely-disliked favorite characters, and embracing my genuine love for him. It also kinda feels like an act of defiance, because online fandoms seem to want everyone to be exactly the same. So, that’s another way to look at it (because I can be a little petty at times).
Anyway, that got really long. I’ve just been wanting to explain why I quit social media for a while now for any of my old followers who might be reading my posts (not sure how many of them do, but it’s the thought that counts). I’ve just been having a hard time finding a healthy way to approach it. Because I want my blog to be a happy space in the sea of negativity online. And my little encouraging doodle for myself today presented a good opportunity to speak up.
Anyway, I hope you didn’t mind my ramblings. And that you enjoyed the art, of course.
