I’m doing Sonictober again this year! Only this time I’m doing it digitally. My goals this year are to get better at drawing Sonic characters, to play around with my digital inking skills, and to get back in the swing of drawing without overthinking it. I’ve been going through some really serious art block for the past few months. I have still been drawing, of course, but not as much as I want to—besides my shop, comic, and art class (yes, this is the blog post where I announce that I’ve started college). Hopefully, this will help me get back on track.

I wrote down a prompt list for myself. This year isn’t so much based on whacky things I’ve done while playing Sonic games (though it is possible that some of that might come up). It’s mostly just Sonic things. There are some characters, some items from the series, and much more. For day one, I just decided to start with Sonic himself. I wanted to draw him in his classic pose from the original box art for the first game. I think it came out really nice! I was thinking about leaving it black and white, but since I’m working digitally, I must use gradients, because I love gradients!
