Today’s a special one! It’s based on my current fanfiction project. The fic is called This Pain Persists (the title references a lyric from Infinite’s theme song). And it’s honestly probably the craziest fanfiction I’ve ever written. I’ll try my best to explain the basic plot here.

Infinite and Neo Metal Sonic are Eggman’s top generals in this fic. They’re leading his robot army to help him rebuild the Eggman Empire, after it was destroyed at the end of Sonic Forces. However, Infinite’s powers are glitching, and end up basically cloning him and creating a little jackal girl that he named Ruby. So, we’ve got two of Sonic’s deadliest enemies fighting to help Eggman take over the world, while raising this little baby jackal who has also inherited Infinite’s reality-warping powers and can’t control said powers. The glitch also caused Infinite’s own powers to become increasingly unstable, which makes him stronger, but they’re also killing him.

If this fic sounds like absolute chaos, that’s because it is. I swear, so many of my fanfiction ideas just randomly spawn from the deepest, darkest parts of my brain, and I just roll with it. The fic is currently sitting at over 60,000 words, and has returned my love for writing, which is something that I’ve been struggling to get back for the past year. This story is definitely a bit of a mess, but it’s my mess, and it’s very important to me. Before I started writing this story, I honestly thought I was done writing fanfiction for good, and I was starting to accept the loss of one of my favorite hobbies. And then came this idea, so I just decided to start writing, and see where it took me.

Also, if you know anything about what I like writing, you know I enjoy including romance. And, yes, Infinite and Metal Sonic are my first villain couple. As far as I know, they’ve never actually met in-universe, but I don’t care. Again, it was a random idea, and I just rolled with it.
