Illilas Feathermist grew up in a wealthy family that lived in Darnassus. He was a member of an organization called the Shadowseekers, a group of sentinels that operated in the shadows, funded by Illilas’s parents. As the son of Feathermist Manor, he was well-loved among his people.
But that all changed when the Shadowseekers took an orc family—including two children— as prisoners during a battle against the Horde.. And they didn’t intend to let the orcs live. This was when Illilas learned that the Shadowseekers were extremists, targeting Horde civilians to eradicate their kind from the face of Azeroth.
Illilas knew that he couldn’t let innocents be killed. He didn’t care that they were at war. He turned against the Shadowseekers and freed the orc family, and everyone else they had captured. Their leader, Ashelda Swiftmoon, witnessed his betrayal. She fought him. She took his right eye and left him in the forest for dead.
For eight years, Illilas had lived alone in the woods, wandering forever. He didn’t want to return to Feathermist Manor, knowing that his family would be disappointed in him. But he knew that he had done the right thing by freeing those prisoners. He didn’t regret anything he had done.
One day in Feralas, he encountered Tyrandidan Moonsong, a priestess of the moon. She was on a mission to help some refugees find safety. She was bringing them to Darnassus. She brought Illilas with her.
Illilas lived undercover in the city for years. He had dyed his red hair black and grew a beard. He always went by a fake name—Thaldras Nightwind. No one ever learned that it was him.
But, eventually, Tyrandidan stopped being a priestess of the moon. The two of them moved to Stormwind. Illilas no longer had to hide his identity. He, Tyrandidan, and a refugee girl Tyrandidan had rescued from the ruined village of Ambrador—Visionora—started a new life in Stormwind.
